Admissions Chances Virginia Commonwealth University, which accepts over eighty percent of applicants, has a somewhat selective admissions process. If your SAT/ACT scores and grades fall within the schools average ranges, you have a strong chance of being accepted. While VCUs admissions process is not holistic, its also not entirely quantitative. In addition to strong grades, the admissions committee is looking at the rigor of your high school course schedule. Work experience and participation in meaningful extracurricular activities will also strengthen your application. VCU also considers letters of recommendation and the Common Application personal essay as part of the application review. For applicants with a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.3 or higher, the submission of test scores is optional. Note that applicants who wish to be considered for scholarships, as well as engineering majors, home-schooled students, and non-native English speakers are not eligible for test-optional admissions. In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent accepted students. The data show that the majority of successful applicants had high school averages of B or better, combined SAT scores of 1000 or higher (ERWM), and ACT composite scores of 20 or better. An average in the A range makes an acceptance letter from VCU much more likely.
